Alfred Williams Sheffield

£260.00
Description: The mark side tang is stamped “ALFRED WILLIAM SHEFFIELD” [the “S” is missing from WILLIAMS and I assume that is the result of a worn stamp rather than be intentional], and the pile side tang is stamped with the ‘pen nib’ trademark. Tweedale notes that Alfred Williams was described as a “cutlery export agent” and he had strong business connections with American cutlery manufacturers and after WW1, “Alfred Williams’ became a common US import brand”. Date: c.1890s to c.1920s.
Condition: excellent, but with the metal surfaces show staining but no pitting.
