Description: The blade face is clearly stamped “FLAG [C.J. flag] KNIFE” trademark. The tang is stamped “[C.J. flag] JOHNSON WESTERN WORKS SHEFFIELD”. It’s length closed is 4 5/8 inches. Chequered buffalo horn scales. Hawkbill blade, integral bolsters and liners and a flat steel butt cap. Date: c.1870s – 1880s.
Condition: very good, except for the damage to the scale adjacent to the but cap as shown in the photo. The metal surfaces show staining but no pitting. Has snap open and closes but not super snappy.
